Fill Up Royal Bafokeng is the fifth instalment of the Fill Up concerts by Cassper Nyovest following four successful shows namely Fill Up The Dome in 2015, Fill Up Orlando Stadium in 2016, Fill Up FNB Stadium in 2017 and Fill Up Moses Mabhida in 2018.
On Monday, August 26, 2019, Cassper Nyovest took to social media were he uploaded and published a video in which he announced that this years Fill Up was going to Rustenburg and that the official hashtag is #FillUpRoyalBafokeng.
On the day of the concert, Cassper Nyovest arrived at Royal Bafokeng stadium in his own Bently Flying Spur after previously hiring a Rolls Royce to drop him off at Fill Up The Dome.
Fill Up Royal Bafokeng was not just an event but also an economic opportunity for hustlers to make some money for the festive season, this is because a lot of transport was hired, small business and street vendors around Phokeng and Rustenburg also benefited.
Cassper Nyovest gave the artists what promoters only give to them when they are opening for international artists, it’s so amazing. Local artists all performing in front of a sold out stadium, year in year out.

Fill Up Royal Bafokeng took place on Sunday, December 15, 2019, Cassper Nyovest revealed the date for this concert on Monday, August 26, 2019, in a video that he posted on Instagram. Watch the video below;
Fill Up Royal Bafokeng Venue: the concert took place at Royal Bafokeng stadium in Rustenburg, in the North West Province of South Africa. Cassper Nyovest announced in August that he would be taking his Fill Up concert series to his home of the North West province in Rustenburg at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium.
The Fill Up Royal Bafokeng poster was revealed on Monday, October 28, 2019, Cassper Nyovest tweeted the poster image which he captioned with the following statement; “The poster is out!!! #FillUpRoyalBafokeng“.

Stage and Preparations
The stadium was decorated with Cassper Nyovest’s signature lion symbol also featuring. The Fill Up Royal Bafokeng stage was massive with a lot of space and it cost R8,300,000 to set up, this included additional random costs like paying crews of 50 people per shift to build the stage. There were 2 shifts per day and they were all well catered for including providing accomodation for all of them for 7 days straight.
Cassper Nyovest even joked that he did not know what to do with all the space provided by the massive stage, he tweeted after the show; “Yerrrrrrr!!!! That stage was huge!!!! At one point i was asking myself what i was trying ngoba working that stage required fitness. Hahaa it was dope though. The stage concept was the #GalaxyA30s“.
As part of his preparations for the concert, on Saturday, December 14, 2019, Cassper Nyovest revealed that two months before Fill Up Royal Bafokeng he had decided to stop eating meat and that he didn’t even hit the gym as much because of Fill Up Royal Bafokeng stress. Cassper tweeted; “2 months ago i decided to stop eating meat and i didn’t even hit the gym as much cause of #FillUpRoyalBafokeng stress. Dropped sooo much volume, inflammation and fat that i can finally fit into a size 32 jean. Oh yeah . @Carpo_mr_ also attempted to quit eating meat. Hahaha“.

On Wednesday, December 4, 2019, Standard Bank one of the partners of Fill Up Royal Bafokeng announced through a tweet that their customers were to get 50% off tickets for ‘Fill Up Royal Bafokeng’ using a ‘MyMo Gold Card’. On Friday, December 13, 2019, it was revealed that all tickets purchased online were to be sold to all standard bank card holders at 50% because Cassper Nyovest’s birthday was just a few days ahead on Monday, December 16, 2019.

On Friday, December 13, 2019, Massiv Metro which is an innovative online metropolitan urban radio station delivering authentic content and music to the commuter market in Johannesburg, announced on Twitter that they had 10 Double Golden Circle Tickets for fans to win. In the morning hours of Sunday, December 15, 2019, Cassper Nyovest announced on Twitter that there was a ticket booth on site, at Royal Bafokeng Stadium. Fill Up Royal Bafokeng Intern Search: Cassper Nyovest and his team conducted an internship program for Fill Up Royal Bafokeng on Saturday, November 30, 2019, at Royal Bafokeng Stadium with interviews starting at 10 a.m. and ending at 3 p.m. The internship search targeted young people with ambition to gain experience and learn more about event planning and the only requirement was a certified ID copy. At the end of the internship search, just 50 individuals were selected from the thousands that came for the interviews.
Cassper Nyovest first revealed about this internship program in a tweet on Wednesday, November 27, 2019, he tweeted saying: “PLEASE RT!!!! Attention Rustenburg!!!! On Saturday we will have an #InternSearch at Royal Bafokeng Stadium. We are looking for 50 individuals in different departments. Interviews start at 10am!!! Fill Up Royal Bafokeng Sponsors and Partners: the concert initially had no sponsors apart from Family Tree which is a record label owned by Cassper Nyovest and BRIDGE Entertainment which is a Talent Agency and Event Management company owned by Cassper Nyovest’s manager Tlee Moiloa. Cassper Nyovest even mentioned that he struggles with sponsors every year and that it is hard for a black entrepreneur in South Africa.
However on Thursday, November 14, 2019, Cassper Nyovest announced on Twitter that Samsung had agreed to be the official sponsor for Fill Up Royal Bafokeng. Mufasa revealed this through a video that he uploaded in a tweet that he captioned with the hashtag #DontFumbleTheBag, and within minutes, the Hashtag #DontFumbleTheBag was the number one trending topic in South Africa and for the rest of the day. This video commercial was written by Mufasa’s longtime and best friend Carpo, co-written by Cassper Nyovest himself and Jabu Nkosi (Cassper Nyovest’s personal photographer).
On Wednesday, November 20, 2019, Standard Bank jumped On the sponsors’ list of Fill Up Royal Bafokeng. It all started when Cassper Nyovest tweeted saying that he thought the ‘Fill Up Royal Bafokeng’ poster seemed full of partners but there was still space for one more partner, Cassper Nyovest tweeted; “This poster seems to be full of partners, but I think we have space for 1 more. On Thursday, November 14, 2019, Cassper Nyovest started up a challenge that went on till Saturday, December 14, 2019 in which fans had to record a video of themselves rapping a verse to one of his songs, then upload it to Twitter with the Hashtags #GalaxyA30s #FillUpRoyalBafokeng and #DontFumbleTheBag. At the end of each day, Cassper Nyovest would go through as many videos as he could then choose one video that he liked most and then reward that fan a brand new Special Edition Cassper Nyovest Samsung Galaxy A30 phone.

On Monday, December 9, 2019, Cassper Nyovest announced on social media that the Family Tree Pop Up store selling merchandise and gear for Fill Up Royal Bafokeng was available in Rustenburg at Waterfall mall for a whole week till Sunday, December 15, 2019 the day for Fill Up Royal Bafokeng. On Saturday, December 14, 2019, as preparations for Fill Up Royal Bafokeng were about to be completed, Cassper Nyovest paid tribute to one of his loyal fans by the name Lethu who had attended all the past Fill Up Concerts. Lethu passed away at the beginning of 2019, Mufasa tweeted: “We lost a loyal fan by the name of Lethu earlier this year. He woulda been so excited today. RIP MA DAWG. Further still, on the Eve of Fill Up Royal Bafokeng, Cassper Nyovest, his team and fans hung out at Rusty Grand Cafe. Mufasa tweeted: “Hanging out at Rusty Grand Cafe tonight. #FillUpRoyalBafokeng“.
Disabled Man Drama At Entrance 11
On Sunday, December 15, 2019, the day for Fill Up Royal Bafokeng and just a few hours before the show kicked off, Cassper Nyovest helped a disabled man from Rustenburg whose name is ‘Tshepang Masibi’ to enter Royal Bafokeng stadium and enjoy the show even when this man had no ticket. It all started when this disabled man tweeted; “Since tickets are sold out, why must people living with disability pay at your event? Bro this is not fair. I’m at Gate 11 since in the morning and they refuse to let me in”.
This man had no ticket for the show because he simply didn’t purchase one and he had tried to enter Royal Bafokeng Stadium at ‘Entrance 11’ which was designated for only Artists.
Cassper then replied to this disabled man’s tweet with : “I feel like this is emotional blackmail but I’ll still help you. On Sunday, December 15, 2019, at about 8:41 p.m., some very few hours before Cassper Nyovest stepped on stage to perform, he revealed on Twitter that he had come up with another iconic hairstyle. He tweeted:
I came up with another iconic hairstyle!!! I would like to apologize to the parents and guardians cause you’re gonna have to pay a lil more at the salon cause the kids want to look like Cassper. Bout to debut the hair on stage!!!.
Cassper Nyovest came on stage with a new half and half coloured fade with an outfit that matched his hairstyle throughout his performance.
During the show, the hair colors of Cassper Nyovest kept on changing like he had promised earlier on because his barber ‘Tsepo The Barber’ was backstage Changing the colour in between songs. It was gold at first and at later stage it was orange, Mufasa also confirmed this later on by replying to a fan who asked him about his hair changing color. Cassper tweeted:
Hahahaha. Yeah, my barber was changing the colors backstage in the 2 minute outfit changes.
Fill Up Royal Bafokeng performances: All the artists on the line-up performed live not forgetting the man of the hour, Cassper Nyovest who performed most of his hit songs like Bentley Coupe’, ‘Move for Me’, ‘Doc Shebeleza’, ‘Superman’ and closed off his set with ‘Monate Mpolaye’ featuring DJ Sumbody. There were however some memorable performances of the show like the tribute to the late HHP and Mufasa performing ‘Superman’ with his father Letsebela Phoolo.
Cassper Nyovest and legendary Motswako group Morafe which comprises of Towdee Mac, Khuli Chana and KayGizm paid a heartfelt tribute to the North West ‘s favourite son HHP, real name Jabulani Tsambo, who died in 2018. They sang some of HHP’s classics like Harambe and Bosso.
Fill Up Royal Bafokeng attendance: About 44,000 people were in attendance at Royal Bafokeng stadium for ‘Fill Up Royal Bafokeng’ making it a record.
So many people attended the show and by Saturday, December 14, 2019, there was no accommodation left in Rustenburg, all the hotels had been booked by Cassper Nyovest’s fans. Also, so many people helped other people who they had even never met to find accommodation, they also provided them with free transportation, this proved that Tsibipians are not only loyal to Mufasa but also to each other.
There was also huge numbers of Botswana cars in Rustenburg with all these people in the country to attend Fill Up Royal Bafokeng.
